Livelihood Training Workshop for the women Artisans..

Women empowerment is one of the foremost objectives of SETU. Making women literate & financially independent are the two main pillars that make them empowered in real sense.

To achieve the mission, SETU has been running a literacy centre at Govind Garh, Rajasthan for the illiterate women in that locality. To take the women towards the next step of self-reliance, SETU conducted a livelihood training workshop for them. The objective was to develop necessary craft skills & inculcate self employment opportunities among the artisan community. The programme was organised on 29th of September 2017.

In the session, training & advanced skills were provided for manufacturing and selling of a range of saleable articles of home decor and upcycled fashion jewellery made from locally available & recycled raw materials.
Various jewelry items, headbands, flowers and home decor items like wall hangings, buntings etc. were made in the programme. A team of expert designers from SETU were appointed to train the women. The raw material and design ideas were also provided free of cost. Marketing support is also being provided by SETU to help the women for sustainable incomes.

It was a beautiful learning experience for the women artisans. Not only did they get to learn new set of skills in the programme, but they also enjoyed the whole experience a lot. A total of 11 women participated in the workshop.
