This sustainable necklace is handmade in the Himalayan region of India. Resins from pines are dried, finely cut and polished to give a wooden effect. The artisans infuse white pigment in the shape of a whirlpool to finish the effect. These beads are then sown neatly end to end in a thread, separated by smaller beads. Two strands of beads are clasped together at the end to enhance the look.
The artisans that work on this necklace are women from the Niyishi tribe. They have escaped child marriage and are able to become financially independent thanks to fair trade. We have helped them reach international markets and thus promoted sustainable development in their lives.
